About SMG

The Sport Management Group, Inc. is a multi-faceted company specializing in risk management in the fitness and athletic industries.  Its founder, David Harlowe formed the company over 13 years ago.  He felt that both industries needed a source to turn to for information, products and services to help management teams run safe, productive facilities and events.  SMG is setting the standard for excellence in risk management services.

David Harlowe graduated from Guilford College (Greensboro, NC) with a degree in Sport Management.  David has vast experience within the athletic and fitness industries.  David was an intercollegiate athlete, intercollegiate coach, and strength and conditioning coach for a minor league hockey team.  David has worked in the front office of a minor league baseball team and is one of the industry's leading experts in risk management and the many fields that make up sport management.  He has performed over 7,000 risk reviews on fitness and athletic facilities nationwide.
